Social Work Community GuidelinesWe’ve created Socialworkchat.org as a place for social workers to meet, interact, and share ideas with each other. Just like a real community, you may have different opinions than colleagues. Our forum functions on mutual respect and cooperation. The Social Work Chat community experience is best when people follow a few rules. Healthy debate is great; it is part of what keeps our profession thinking critically, however ...
Debate ideas and comments rather than criticize or attack participants personally
Do not harass, abuse, or threaten other members.
Do not post content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable.
Try to stay on topic. If you want to discuss a topic that is not related to the community area in which you are participating, try going to another topic area or create a new one.
Refrain from using these community services for commercial or advertising purposes.
Don’t post copyrighted content without permission from the owner.
Adult-oriented content is not permitted
Please report any violations of the above to our Manager at Smankita@socialworkchat.org. Anyone receiving two warnings may be banned from using our online community
About ChattingChatting is quite different from face-to-face communication. Only your words travel over the network - the facial expressions, tone of voice, and other live conversational nuances are completely absent from discussions in our chat room. For that reason, we ask you to pay attention to how you use those words. Remember to use the smileys and other symbols available to you so others will have a better idea of your “tone”.
You are encouraged to make full use of the chat rooms and bulletin boards here at the site. Chat rooms are open and available for use beyond the times of scheduled chats. If you are new to chatting, you will find it becomes easier to follow the flow over time. Give yourself a chance to get used to this new way of communicating. Hosts will monitor each chat and are there to help.
How to HelpWe hope you’ll support our online community and help it to grow. You can do this by sharing the information and link with friends and colleagues. We also welcome new community leadership here and offer training and volunteer opportunities as chat and bulletin board moderators
